Ancient Sunlight Oxymel
Ancient Sunlight Oxymel
Ingredients: Organic St. Johns Wort (Hypericum perforatum), Organic Chamomile (Matricaria chamomilla), Organic raw local honey, organic raw apple cider vinegar.
This is a medicine made with two very ancient herbs, St. Johns Wort and Chamomile. These vibrant plants were seeped in a delicious mixture of raw honey and organic apple cider vinegar, a traditional folk method called an oxymel. This medicine is for supporting feelings of warmth, joy, and security. During darker months, literally and figuratively, it is important to get doses of sunshine wherever you can to support the emotional and physical body.
St. Johns Wort is the embodiment of sunlight in a plant. It replicates everything the sun does for our body. It is a very old herb that has been used for centuries, commonly as a medicine for winter time when the body lacks the minerals and nutrients the sun provides. St. Johns Wort has bright yellow flowers and blooms every year at the peak of the summer solstice. SJW has a lot of folk lore attached to it. This powerful plant pulls in all of the magic of the sun and stores it in every part of the plant. It “bleeds” a red color when touched or macerated which is pure magic on its own. It was the herb of witches, priests, alchemists, and everyone in between. The hypericin plant chemical in SJW has potent compounds that help regulate mood, energy, anxiety, and any emotional distress. Hypericin also opens up bodily functions to be able to receive more serotonin and dopamine.
Chamomile is definitely one of the most well known herbs in the world, but that does not make it less potent. Also one of the oldest herbs on record to be used by humans, chamomile has been found in skeletal remains of early humans and tombs. Chamomile was a plant of the gods according to many ancient civilizations including; Greek, Egyptian, and Roman. Chamomile has so many benefits, but I chose to include it in this remedy for its ability to support the nervous system and regulate mood. Chamomile also promotes healthy digestion which I think is key to a well functioning mind!
